How To Be A Pillar In Your Community
Whether you are a big city or a small village Dentist you should always be part of your local community. Engaging with your locals will boost referrals and retention not just for one family member but for the whole community.
The easiest way to get out there and show you care about your community is with a Charity. This could be coffee mornings, sponsored fitness events or even collecting old clothes for your local homeless shelter, just to name a few. Remember to always keep it local!
It’s not always about Charity though you may have a local sport team that needs sponsoring like Smile With Us, who are the proud sponsors of Kidlington Colts under 10’S
Each year Clifton Dental Studio holds Patient Appreciation Parties where they reward their patients with awards such as “The most improved nervous patient” and “Happiest Patient”.
Not only this but Clifton Dental are one of our top implementers of community building events and have taken part in the Tooth Fairy Day, a free education day for toddlers. The John Lennon tooth tour, offering FREE mouth cancer screening during oral health awareness month and they also take part in pretty much every Nationwide charity event from Christmas Jumper Day to Macmillan Coffee Morning and even auctioning off signed celebrity memorabilia.
These are just a few of the ways the team at Connect can help you build your pillar in your community.
Did You Help Your Community During The Pandemic?
This was a big one for our members and the uptake was outstanding, across the Country we held webinars with ideas on how to help within the community during this crisis.
We felt it was important to get our members involved in helping people less fortunate, by helping with shopping, food bank collections, collecting prescriptions, hand delivering Invisalign for patients who were in mid treatment and even offering their lines open just for a chat. Some members signed up to assist the NHS in hot clinics and others offered FREE exercise classes online.
It was also important for our members to reach out to their patients especially the ones who were mid treatment, with temporary implants or crowns etc. This was done via phone and email but also the team supplied us with videos on treating dental emergencies at home and reassuring videos to let everyone know they are still there on the phone, this service was for everyone not just their patients.
Taking Community Spirit To the Next Level
When things started to open back up it was important to keep things local and support each other by buying local supporting local businesses. As marketers we made the use of everything possible to share and promote the local businesses of our members.
One team that took on our post lockdown challenge was Taylored Dental Care, Taylored Dental hosted a competition to find their Local Lockdown Hero. By putting up posters and posting on social media it wasn’t long until the nominations were flying in! After 2 weeks they did a random draw to reveal the winner of FREE tooth whitening worth just under £500 and also the Local Lockdown Hero trophy. It is safe to say that Taylored Dental Care are well on their way to building a strong and permanent pillar in their community.
